How I Help Clients

I am dedicated to counseling kids, teens, and adults, helping them to find their way and learn their own skills to cope or handle problems on their journey to finding a sense of peace and belonging, happiness, and power over their destiny. Life can beautiful and fun, but sometimes confusing or exhausting and you just feel stuck. I’m here to guide you through the obstacles you may face from the past, in the future, and in relationships.

My goals are to help you understand yourself more deeply, find your strengths, and look at things in new ways. I want to help you feel heard, understand your emotions, state your needs, grow from the past, and be able to cope with difficulties. I want you to feel more calm and centered as a person or as a partner.

You can be yourself here. I’m trauma informed and Poly and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I help kids, teens, and adults

  • to feel in control of themselves and their life again

  •  to feel like they won't be overwhelmed with stress, anxiety, depression, or the chaos of the world anymore

  • know what makes them valuable and worthwhile as an individual and as a partner

Therapy sessions with me will be different for each client and specific to the individual. The frequency and duration will vary. All therapy sessions are provided through online counseling. My areas of specialty include providing counseling with kids and adults for anxiety and HSPs, individual counseling for relationship issues, and virtual play therapy for kids.

Therapy With Me

My clients describe me as calm, caring, and empathetic. I am also supportive and practical. I aim to be insightful, reassuring, and non-judgmental. Clients have reported feeling like I can provide them with guidance, get them thinking, be flexible, and that they feel comfortable opening up and sharing their world with me (even if it is not always in words but instead through art and play). I may be a good fit for a Highly Sensitive Child or HSP adult as I am understanding, have training in this area, and identify has an HSP myself.

My style of therapy is integrative. My counseling approach is client-centered, trauma-focused, systemic, creative, and tailored to each adult, teen or child's individual counseling needs. I use what works best for each person, letting individuals choose personal situations they want to explore first as we take things in steps to manage depression or overwhelming emotions, anxiety, relationship stress, and improve their overall wellness.

My Background

I am a clinical social worker licensed in Missouri (LCSW#2018027453) and Texas (LCSW#67300) and Indiana (LCSW# 34009559A). I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Evansville in Indiana. I then decided to go back home to St. Charles, Missouri to continue my education and get my Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis' highly acclaimed Brown School of Social Work. During this time I took many classes and worked in the field, exploring various areas of social work and therapy. After graduation I worked in rural parts of Missouri, providing mental health services for children, teens, and adults in offices, homes, schools, and through telehealth, allowing me to obtain training to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).

I moved to the beautiful Woodlands area of Houston, Texas with my husband and two dogs, which allowed me to get more involved in online counseling and create Calm Centered Counseling, LLC. It also allowed me to spend time in the warm weather enjoying some of my hobbies such bike riding and kayaking.

I moved back to Evansville, Indiana to be closer to family. I am now available for online therapy to those located in Evansville and all across Indiana. Online counseling will continue to be provided to clients located anywhere in Texas, Missouri, or Indiana.
